AMD Ryzen 5 7520U Processor

The standout among the trio is undoubtedly the Ryzen 5 7520U, showcasing impressive performance. Armed with four cores and eight threads, it boasts a solid 2.8 GHz base frequency across all cores, with the potential to reach an impressive 4.3 GHz boost CPU frequency. The processor is equipped with 4MB of L3 and 2MB of L2 cache, making for a total of 6MB of cache, further enhancing its capabilities.

AMD Ryzen 3 7320U Processor

Taking the second spot in the lineup is the Ryzen 3 7320U, featuring four cores and eight threads, mirroring the Ryzen 5 7520U’s configuration. However, it operates at a slightly lower base core clock speed of 2.4 GHz. The processor still impresses with a 1T boost frequency, capable of reaching up to 4.1 GHz. Like its higher-tier counterpart, it offers 4MB of L3 and 2MB of L2 cache, amounting to a total of 6MB of cache, which aids in its overall performance.

AMD Athlon Gold 7220U Processor

At the bottom of the 7020 series stands the Athlon Gold 7220U, offering the least power among its counterparts. According to AMD’s internal assessments, laptops equipped with the 7020 series and a 40-45Wh battery have the potential to run for an impressive 12 hours on a single charge. These tests were carried out with 8GB of RAM on the Intel system and 4GB of RAM on the Ryzen system. AMD also boasts the Athlon Gold 7220U chip’s gaming capabilities, claiming it can handle up to 97 FPS in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, 84 FPS in League of Legends, and 61 FPS in DOTA2, all at a resolution of 720p.

AMD 7020 Series: Availability

The AMD 7020 processors are set to hit the market in Q4 of 2022, with laptops featuring these chips expected to fall within the price range of $399 to $699. Renowned partners like Acer, HP, Lenovo, and Microsoft are part of the Ryzen 7020 Series ecosystem, ensuring a wide selection of laptops sporting these processors will be available by the end of the year.
